I hear something is happening at the Michigan Central Station in late January. What is going on?
As an extension of our NAIAS presence, this year Ford is hosting a winter festival in front of the Michigan Central Station. Together with the local community, we’re going to give a 3D light show on the building, a night market with music, food and activities for all ages and a first-of-its-kind exhibition of train station artifacts.
When and where is the event taking place?
The event is running from January 18 -27 on Lacombe Drive in front of the Michigan Central Station.
Will this become an annual event?
We are excited to be joining the Corktown and Southwest Detroit community and events like this are a great way to bring everyone together. We will be reviewing the success of this first event and seeking feedback and then we’ll decide whether we continue it.
Do I need a ticket to attend?
No, this event is free and open to everyone. We are glad to welcome people from all over to come down to the Michigan Central Station and spend time with us. We will also have food and beverages available for purchase.
What if I get cold?
We will have one big tent with vendors and activities where people can keep warm. While we’ll endeavor to make the experience as comfortable as possible for people, this is predominantly an outdoor event so we encourage people to dress warmly and embrace winter!
Can I go inside the Michigan Central Station?
No, this event will take place outside. As construction is currently underway, the inside of the station will remain closed to the public at this time.
Where do I park?
Parking will be available onsite. See the parking and shuttle section for more details.
Are you offering shuttle buses?
Yes. Please see the parking and shuttle section for more details.
Is there an age restriction for attendees?
No, but we do ask that minors are accompanied by an adult at all times.
Can I bring a stroller?
Of course, this is a toddler friendly event.
Is this event handicap accessible?
Yes. There will also be handicap parking available.
Will the event still take place in the event of inclement weather (i.e., heavy snow)?
Yes. It will take place rain or snow (unless weather advisory is in effect).
What if I get hungry?
There will be a variety of food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase.
